Mieke Petiet is a self-made woman with a fascination for make-up and fashion dating from a period when, although there were no training schools *in Holland* for make-up artists, international competitions were being held.
The first time that Mieke competed in the International Concours de Maquillage she was the first Dutch entrant ever to win a prize. She subsequently won the top prizes year after year and was world champion for two years running.
Nationally, she won the most important distinction in her field: The Len Klaphaakring.
In 1980, in Middelburg and Amsterdam, she founded her own school: The School of Mieke Petiet.
She has been coaching her talented students ever since and the rain of prizes has never let up.
Her daughter Annechien Petiet won the Netherlands Championships in 1996 and has since devoted herself totally to The School.
In addition to giving lessons in make-up art and hairstyling, she coaches the students with their assignments and with competitions during and after the study.
The Agency Group Select encourages trainee make-up artists to take part in on-job training as a way to build up experience for the work market. The Agency is run by Joris Petiet.
The diploma for the vocational training course, the certificate for the four-day course and the silver Gruppo Select pin are highly regarded nationally and internationally - a very good reason why so many foreign students find their way to The School of Mieke Petiet.
